Random Monday

In CategoryRandom Monday

• Here’s an interesting story about dropping mice on Guam in an effort to kill snakes.

• New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg seems determined to RUIN PIZZA now. That guy is out of control.

• I find myself extremely unmotivated to unpack. Extremely. Also, I feel slightly sickened at how much crap we have. Boxes and boxes of stuff. Who needs this much stuff? We’ve gotten along with one skillet and one pot and one knife for a year and a half. Having more than that is weird.

Being unsettled by the amount of stuff in boxes does not stop me from spending every waking moment thinking about getting even more stuff, however. It’s like, I have a lot of stuff, but it’s not the right stuff. For example, we have no lamps. None. Well, two. But mostly none. Also, we have no chairs. Literally none. We have one sofa. No side chairs. No kitchen chairs. No office chairs. Zeros chairs of any kind. How am I 41 years old with no chairs? Also, no tables. Which I suppose works out fine, because with no kitchen chairs, a table by itself would be pointless. No end tables. No nightstands. Nothing. You know what I DID find, though? Rocks. A box of rocks. very nice, polished, vase filler-type rocks, neatly packed into zippy baggies and cushioned by tissue paper. But still. Rocks.

• Happy Monday, y’all! Sorry this is late, but please link up with your own Randomness below!

Rocks?! But no chairs. And no tables. Hmmm. Interesting.

I do not want to open that link on IKEA meatballs, having just consumed some very recently. I will stay happy in my ignorance.

Goood grieeeef. Bloomberg has solved all problems in his city of homelessness, drug addiction, high rents and lack of parking. So now he has time to do all this.

So, if I like IKEA meatballs (and I do), does that mean I like horsemeat? ‘Cause I’m not OK with that for some reason.

I’m not doing a Random Monday post this week. Life itself has seemed to be throwing random sucker punches and I’d rather do something like “I, Despite All Contrary Evidence, Maintain the Illusion of Control Monday”. 😉

One word regarding the lamps and the chairs: IKEA. Just don’t eat the meatballs while you’re there. 🙂

I think I am the only person on the planet that does not like IKEA. IKEA furniture doesn’t even survive one move. Just a FYI.

The snakes on Guam are icky. I hate snakes. Have I mentioned that before?

Wouldn’t the snakes eat the mice? I’m sorry, I just can’t bring myself to click on that link, so you’ll have to explain the logic to me sometime.

We get rid of stuff every time we move, and I still always feel like we have too much. Four platters? Do I really need FOUR platters? And don’t get me started on Anemone’s cookie cutter collection. She needs her own kitchen.

Come visit Australia – our Ikea meatballs have no horsemeat in them. Although really, it’s just another form of muscle/protein.

I don’t want to move again, because it’s been a whole 6 years since we last moved and we now have too much stuff. Although we just filled a massive trailer with unwanted stuff from our shed and I feel much better for it.

being the practical woman that I am I am going to tell you to get rid of a ton of stuff and then get the lamps, tables and chairs that you need but try not to overbuy as a year can go by quickly and you may decide to move again, having to pack up all those new purchases…….
