• Someone found my blog by searching for “homeschoolers site of awesomeness.” I don’t know if they found awesomeness when they got here, but it made my whole day nonetheless.
• NOAA had finally released the results of it’s research into the existence of mermaids. Hint: there aren’t any. Your tax dollars at work, Citizen!
• I love summertime television. I think the quality of the shows on cable is light-years better than the crap on network television.
and I AM a connoisseur.
The final episodes of The Closer start tonight! I love The Closer and will miss it. BUT! There will be a spinoff in August called Major Case, which I am looking forward to. We have also been enjoying Longmire (on A&E) and Common Law (on USA).
Also this week, Big Brother starts, which is a very guilty pleasure we ashamedly indulge in every summer. Every year I tell Jim, “I can’t believe we watch this swill,” but every year, we do. Of course the kids are staying up later, so that might pose a problem.
Because I am also a hypocrite.
See, I LOOOOOVE television. I do. I love it. But we are very strict with the kids. They are barely allowed anything more than PBS Kids. Sure, they get to watch Phineas & Ferb; but only on Netflix, where they are not assaulted by the unbearably obnoxious commercials on the Disney Channel. So if they drag bedtime out past the beginning of Big Brother, I don’t know what I’ll do.
Cry, perhaps.
Do you guys like summer tv? What are your favorites? I don’t want to miss out on any great shows!
• Happy Monday, y’all!

I am the first to comment! hee hee! sorry I don’t have much to say about summer time tv. I just wanted to be the first to comment. We don’t have regurlar tv. We watch Netflix and Hulu. I will say I agree with your stand on kids tv. Mine have never watched prime time tv or even disney. My hubby found all the seasons of Gomer Pyle, the Andy Griffith show, Gilligans Island and the like. They watch those and movies. Have a great week!

We have watched almost all 8 seasons of MONK and have just 10 episodes to go until the series finale. I have no idea what we will watch next. We only watch complete series on Netlix Instant. Decisions, decisions.

I weep a little in the summer for the lack of regular shows. I’m limping along this summer with RHONY, Pregnant in Heels (hilarious), Royal Pains (kinda goofy but okay), and the Selling New York/LA/London franchise. I really need to find a couple more to fill in some blanks. Now I MUST read the mermaid research. Seriously.

Mermaid research? Seriously?
I watch Say Yes to the Dress, the Closer, Risoli and Isles, and reruns of the Big Bang Theory. My family watches a lot more!

I’m so excited about Kristy’s comment! My family is also watching Monk. Yesterday I realized that my children do not know the words to O Canada. They do, however, know the lyrics to Monk’s theme song. It’s shameful, really. This is why no one comes to my blog by googling “homeschoolers site of awesomeness.”
I’m completely out of the loop on broadcast television. I swear I’m 3 or 4 behind on everyone. Which is why I’m so excited about “The Book of Daniel” which is 8 episodes of amazingness that I found on netflix.

I’m a sucker for a Gordon Ramsey show. My kids don’t watch except phineas and ferb on demand and Only while they fold their laundry. And master chef. They watch that with me. Meanwhile, I’m waiting for them to fall asleep so I can watch the last episode of game of thrones season 1!

Our favorite thing to do is find a series on Netflix, preferably on instant and watch the entire thing. Monk was one of our favorites. Also Saving Grace, [Keilee wasn't allowed to watch that one] The Closer [LOVE IT but only watch it after it comes on Netflix], The Mentalist. Hmmm I know there are more. We watch TV but are not TV slaves. It isn’t allowed on until dinner except rarely. Keilee likes Dance Moms and I let her watch it while I have a running commentary about how much it sucks.
