It was Big’s birthday last week and we went to the beach when Jim got off work. We happened to get there during a very low tide, and felt SO lucky to see all kinds of creatures –
Ochre Sea Stars
More Sea Stars
This guy (we think it’s a sea anemone – this kind maybe?
I love it here

Those are some amazing photos!
Once when my husband and I visited my brother in Portland without kids, I thought it would be fun to bring a Sea Star home to Kelly. I had to pry it off of the rock it was attached on,not really realizing it was a living creature. Then I layed it on his front porch to dry out. When we went outside the next day, it was gone. I think an animal had drug it away. I still feel bad about it.

I’m so happy for you, Deb! I feel the peace coming out of these photos, and the sheer wonder, and the sweet togetherness of being with people you love, sharing something so beautiful. It just radiates out. Lovely.
And I love the idea that you are looking out at the very same ocean that I see all the time. The ocean I ride my bike past and take my children to. Next time, I’ll stand there and wave to you. Perhaps, if you look really hard, stand on your tippy toes and squint ferociously, you’ll see me?
Sending love and big, BIG smiles! One special smile to your Birthday Big, too. 🙂
