I Heart Sir Ken

Homeschooling Isn’t:
The same kids
in the same room
doing the same thing
at the same time
in the same way
to achieve the same results
because they are the same age.

Stephen Moitozo

They had a link to this at Simple Homeschool over the weekend, and I loved it so much I wanted to keep it.

Organized education operates on the assumption that children learn

only when

and only what

and only because we teach them.

That is not true.

It is very close to one hundred percent false.

My Dad sent me this video a few months ago. He is my biggest supporter since taking my two girls out of school and beginning this new homeschool kind of life! I love this video and sent it to everyone I know!

I love posts like this that reaffirm that *yes* I am doing this right and I am doing the right thing when geography is a world map taped up under her loft bed that we lay and talk about at night before bed, and when (kindergarten) writing is passing notes to each other back and forth in the car on the drive home from church. TY for posts like these. (Oh, and I really love your blog!)

That is a good video. I enjoyed it with my coffee. Made me think. My biggest problem with the schools is that everyone has to be grouped by age. I can’t stand developmental charts and you should be doing this by this age or even this tall by this age.

Education today is controlled by the unions and the government who really don’t care much about the kids. Oh, I know they say they do, but I kept waiting for him to draw dollar signs from the unions to a capitol building.

    Thanks for sharing!

How big can I write I AGREE in this here comment’s box? What, only that big? Come ON!

So, I’ll write it again. I AGREE. I SO AGREE. And I heart Ken too, and John Holt! I’m a “wish I could shout their words from the rooftops,” kind of fan. I’m so glad you posted this.

Now, please can you attach an adjust-font-size button for your comments box, Deb, so I can agree even bigger? :)
