NOT Back-to-School!

In CategoryHome Schooling

I have never participated in a Blog Hop before, but I love this one!

Today we are getting back in the groove after taking a longer-than-planned summer break. I can’t wait to get started! I have spent quite a bit of time the last few weeks making schedules and cleaning out our schoolroom. I have a 5 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. This list is for my son, Big. He is doing kinder/1st grade work. My daughter (Little) will be doing Hidden Picture puzzles, educational sticker books, and anything else I can think of that will keep her occupied for more than 15 seconds in a row.

Our curriculum for this Fall looks like this:

Our school year runs from January to January, so this is actually the beginning of the second “semester” of the year for us. We should be done with everything listed by Thanksgiving, when we will begin our longer break between school years.

Social Studies/Science

Of course I have a list of life skills we will work on. This year I plan on the kids memorizing our address and phone number, learning how to use the phone, and understanding when to dial 911. We are going to continue with ice-skating lessons, and start skating together as a family once a week. We went last week and I skated for the first time in probably about 20 years! I didn’t even fall down! (I held onto the edge for dear life and I’ve been downing Tylenol for the past three days, but nevermind)

Happy Learning!
